This manuscript collection comprises official correspondence to and from John Eric Sturton Bodger whilst honorary secretary of the Yorkshire Association of Students of the Institution of Civil Engineers, together with some related documents, 1914-1915. The items were discovered in 1975 amongst the deposited papers of the Leeds Philosophical and Literary Society, upon whose premises the Association used to hold lecture meetings. The officers of the Association in 1911-1915 were as follows:- President G F Charnock, MICE, Bradford Technical College Vice-presidents W F Beardshaw, Baltic Steelworks, Sheffield H J Rudgard, NE Railway, York G A Hart, Sewage Engineer's Office, Leeds J T Pullon, Roundhay, Leeds J Gilchrist, University of Leeds Honorary Secretary J E S Bodger, GN Railway, Leeds Honorary Treasurer C W Shaw, AMICE, Dewsbury. The secretary of the Institution in London was J H Tudsbery.
Biography or history
The Yorkshire Association of Students of the Institution of Civil Engineers used to hold lecture meetings on premises belonging to the Leeds Philosophical and Literary Society. This collection was found amongst the LPLS papers deposited in the Library in 1975.
