Description

Copy of Sam Hanna's film, 'The Rope Maker', filmed at the workshop of ropemaker Mr. T. G. Outhwaite, in Hawes ( Wensleydale). The film includes footage of rope being made according to traditional methods, and a cow-tie being woven on a loom.


The film is one of a series of films made by Sam Hanna from the late 1920s onwards, recording English traditional crafts. The films were distributed by Brun Educational Films Ltd.
