Description
Ropemaker, Mr. T. G. Outhwaite, holding a tail rope in his workshop, Hawes ( Wensleydale). The tail rope was used to tie hay onto the hay sledge when carrying it to the barn. Mounted on Photo File card with LAVC/PHO/P1236. With typed note.

Established in 1905, Outhwaite's the ropemakers still exists in Hawes. It now operates as W. R. Outhwaite & Son (http://www.ropemakers.com/).
