Description

The box numbers refer to the 7 Stancliffe family boxes in Liddle. These relate to Percy Stancliffe and his sons Richard and George Stancliffe.

Box 1: contains an extensive collection of papers relating to Ludgrove Preparatory School and Eton including exam papers and George's school reports and bills. There are letters sent by the school and copies of Ludgrove's division list and calendar booklets.

Box 2: contains material relating to George's time at Eton including letters from George to his parents. There are also letters from the school, school reports and bills.

Biography or history

George Hall Stancliffe (1899-1954) was the son of Percy Stancliffe and Ethel Stancliffe (née Rowland). He served with the cavalry in a Yorkshire Regiment in WW1.

Provenance

The papers were placed in the Collection by Mrs R Shaw (daughter) and R S Stancliffe.
