Search the People and organisations Index

Many of our catalogue records are associated with people and organisations, usually as creators but sometimes in other roles such as owners, subjects and donors.

When searching the index of people and organisations, please be aware of the following:

  • Most printed items do have people and organisations recorded.
  • Many archival records do not have people and organisations recorded. If they do, this tends to be at higher levels in the archive hierarchy, for example at Collection or Series level.
  • Unfortunately, our people and organisations index is not as tidy as we would like (there are some duplicate records for example). We are working to correct this, but we have over 100,000 records so it will take time.
  • If the duplicate records issue is causing difficulties, you can always search the main catalogue for the person, family or organisation.
