Features
The large initials on leaves a2r and a3r have been supplied and decorated in blue and white against a background of red and gold. Each initial contains a shield with a coat of arms in blue and a chevron of gold featuring three white roses, a red crescent and two black nails.

Bindings
Binding of full vellum over pasteboard. The spine has five raised bands. Written directly onto the spine in black ink manuscript in the first panel are the number and words: 1158 Pantheologie Ranierii. Written in the second panel in black ink manuscript in a different hand is the number 1583 (or possibly 1483). In the third panel in black ink manuscript are the words: Reneiriis De pisis. At the base of the spine in ink manuscript are the date and place: 1485 - Vinise. There is evidence that the book was fastened with two ties or thongs. Size: 283 x 204mm. Leaf size: 277 x 187mm.
Provenance
The large decorated initials on leaves a2r and a3r each contain a shield with a coat of arms in blue and a chevron of gold featuring three white roses, a red crescent and two black nails.
Inscription in black ink manuscript at the head of the first printed leaf [*]1r: de Conuentu Minimorum Nanceiano. The book was once in the possession of the Minims (Franciscans) of Nancy.
Inscription in black ink manuscript at the head of the front pastedown: Bibliothèque des Minoteries de Nancy.
On the recto of the second front flyleaf is an autograph in purple ink manuscript with the second name scrubbed out: Edmond [...] avocat à Nancy 1865. The book was probably owned by Edmond Contal.
There is an inscription in French on the recto of the second front flyleaf in black ink manuscript, partially scrubbed out, with the name: P. LaPlagne Barris.
Small black and white armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
