Description
Documents relating to Maurice de Sausmarez's unsuccessful registration as a Conscientious Objector, including two undated press cuttings, titled: 'Objector and War Blame' and ''Clip Over Ear' For Hitler', featuring de Sausmarez's Tribunal in Leeds. There is a copy of de Sausmarez's application dated 20 March 1940, in which he objects to the principle of conscription as against Christian values. Also a copy of the report from the Tribunal held on 30 April 1940 and the notification of the result of the application, dated 1 May 1940, which removed his name from the Register of Conscientious Objectors and registered him for service in non-combatant duties. There is also a handwritten transcription of the proceedings.
