Tarsis writes to Read to confirm that he has arrived in London, and to thank Read and the other writers and scholars who protested his imprisonment for agitating on his behalf. He asks them not to forget his colleagues still imprisoned in the Soviet Union: Andrei Sinyavsky, Yulii Daniel and Vladimir Bukovsky, who has been been confined to a psychiatric home.
