Description
Research notes and papers concerning Bauman's period of working at Tel Aviv University, his later appointment at University of Leeds in 1971 and subsequent appointment as Head of Department of Social Studies. Includes:
1)Notebooks: 2 original ringbound notebooks containing handwritten manuscript notes [in English] on works by other authors. Titled ‘cultural anthropology 1’ [in Polish] and ‘structuralism’ [in Polish]. Undated, c.1970s
2) Pages of notebook with inserts and some loose papers containing handwritten notes [mainly in English] and possibly correspondence [Hebrew writing on University of Tel Aviv letterhead]. Likely written during Bauman's time in Israel, c.1968-1971.
3) Some typescript papers in Polish [some possibly student research proposals]. Includes titles ‘na rozdrożu w swiecie na rozdrożu’ [World at a Crossroads]; ‘Endoeslung 1968’ [Final Solution, 1968]; ‘Bunt młodzieży, który nie jest walką pokoleń’ [The youth rebellion is not a clash of generations]
Also includes:
Correspondence : re appointment at Leeds; with international publishers, journal editors (Archives Européennes de Sociologie; American Political Science Review; Nowiny I Kurier) and various (Norman Birnbaum; B. S. Schindler; J. Matthes; Leszek Kolakowski; Reinhard Bendix).
Personal papers : such as birth certificate; CV; personal letter; library reader cards; press release and photograph.
