Biography or history
Enclosed is a note [possibly in Fraser's hand] that reads, "This album may at one time have been handed on from one editor of the JGLS [Journal of Gypsy Lore Society] to the next. Some of the annotations appear to be in the hand of R.A.Scott Macfie. The index on the last original leaf of the album was compiled by E.O Winstedt who edited th JGLS from 1922-1930."
Provenance
This item was found unlisted with other unlisted material belonging to Angus Fraser, [including items from the library of Bernard Gilliat Smith] . It is not clear if this was once part of Gilliat Smith's library , if it was purchased by Angus Fraser [ The Gypsy Lore Society was known to sell duplicate items from its collections to raise funds] or inherited via his role on the editorial board of the Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society.
It may have been sold as there is a pencil note in the front cover that reads, "A.Holmes 1982 Cat. 103. £300"
