[Collector announcement (Parry)]; Tom John, recorded in Pontlottyn [possibly in 1960]; talks about horse feed; straw rope; (Welsh) calls to cattle and horses; farm waggons/carts; ploughing and the quality of the soil; describes plough types; the winter weather and its effect on the community; names given to cattle/sheep/horses at different ages; sheep shearing; sheep marks; de-horned cattle; the cowhouse; [child sings in Welsh]. [Collector announcement (Parry)]; Reginald Jones, recorded in Llanfrechfa (Monmouthshire); talks about the village and new houses; a tin works; his work at a brick works in Cwmbran; wages; discusses Cwmbran tiles; family (house); the name for the smallest piglet (a crink); names for sheep; sheep-shearing; describes the cheesemaking process; bakestones and Welsh cakes; fireplace/oven; domestic lighting (paraffin lamps).
