George Smith, recorded in South Ferriby; talks about his working life (hours, accidents, conditions), including thirty years in a brickyard, at Barton-upon-Humber cement works and in Hull; accidents at work; brother's accident whilst working in a mine in Scunthorpe; carrying bricks as a youngster; also talks about running at Appleby; a walking match (competitive); and anecdotes re. courting.
