Harry Osgodby, recorded at South Ferriby ; relates a number of anecdotes concerning his working life (road work, harvesting); talks about working with horses, and describes a working day. [Tr. 7]
Male informant gives biographical information; makes reference to schooling at Waddingham; first job as bird scarer; other jobs in South Kelsey, Cadney, Croxton and Bonby; marriage; work on drains in Bonby and Ferriby Sluice (aged 23 to 70); family; farm working at Winterton Carrs and Worlaby during World War One; seeing an aeroplane for the first time; Sunday School; wedding anniversary trip to Cleethorpes; agricultural hirings [?location] and wages; tending cows; fishing; making dyking tools - use of willow; tools made for dredgers, qualities of willow; other tools made and prices charged. Male informant describes his work with pigs, and with a pigman in Louth; describes other farm work, including stacking, hedging (piece work), cart driving; work with a horse breaker, breaking horses in with a cart; selling pigs at market; thacking. [Tr. 9]
