This includes a typed copy of a letter on sheepshearing in Cumberland, from 'William Hone's Table Book of Daily Recreation and Information' (London: Tegg, 1850); a photocopy of Alexander J. Many of the cuttings are largely illustrative.

Sanderson's article on sheep-washing in the north of England relates to a field trip undertaken by members of staff of the Institute of Dialect and Folk Life Studies to photograph and record (on film and audio-tape) a revival of the custom of sheep-washing in Outgang Beck at Thornton Rust (Wensleydale).
