Description
A study of the dialect spoken in Rolleston on Dove in Staffordshire, based on data collected from fieldwork interviews with two local residents. The study comprises an introduction to the village, followed by chapters on the sounds of the Rolleston dialect [recorded in 1964], and the development of the Middle English vowel system of accented syllables in the dialect. An Index of Words is included. Photographs and postcard prints show views of the village.
