Description
The first volume is a reissue, with added title and preface, of the volume published in 1915 with title: Catalogue of the John Boyd Thacher collection of incunabula.
Compilers: v. 1, F.W. Ashley; v. 2, Miss A.L. Shiley under direction of F.W. Ashley; v. 3, H.E. Bourne assisted by Mrs. G.A. MacCormick.
The collection, deposited in the Library of Congress at various dates between April 1910 and February 1921, was bequeathed to the library by Mrs. Thacher, January 25, 1925.
The following items in vol. 2 were permanently returned to the estate in 1934: the Pierre Margry item in the American section (p. 29) and in the Bibliographic works section, the entire list of titles (p. 55-95).
