Description
Colored illustrated t.p.
On verso of t.p.: Alan Powers of Judd Street Gallery produced the pattern paper used to cover this book from one of my wood cuts in 1989. The drawings on the title page, after the contents and on p. 3, are part of a group made to a tight schedule in 1945. All the other illustrations are printed direct from wood engravings made in 1938 for the Zodiac book of nursery rhymes published by Chatto and Windus, with an extra one on p. 32.
Colophon: Two hundred and sixty copies are numbered 1 to 260 on p. vi, and were also made avilable in sheets for binders. A further fifty copies are numbered in Roman style from I to L. These are also autographed by Enid Marx on p. vi, have some illustrations hand coloured, and include a folder of three duplicate engravings on Zerkell paper. Printing was completed in November, 1993, the first book of the press.
Tail-piece.
