The life of Cleomenes was translated from Plutarch by Thomas Creech. Owing to Dryden's illness, the fifth act of the play was completed by Thomas Southerne.


Dedication to the Earl of Rochester.


Following the preface are verses 'To Mr. Dryden, on his Cleomenes', signed Theophilus Parsons.
