Description

Paging irregular.

At the death of Bridges his mss. were placed in the hands of Gibbons, a law-bookseller, who engaged Dr. Samuel Jebb to edit them. Before many numbers had appeared Gibbons became bankrupt and the manuscripts were secured by Mr. William Cartwright. A committee was formed to publish the work, the editing being entrusted to the Rev. Peter Whalley, who issued the first volume in 1762, the work first appearing as a whole in 1791. cf. Dict. nat. biog.

Issued in parts, 1762-91.
