Description
Paging irregular; volumes paginated consecutively.
Greaves, in his dedication, wrongly attributes "A description of the grand seignor's seraglio" to its translator, Robert Withers; actually by Ottavio Bon and originally entitled "Il serraglio del Gransignore".
"Dissertatio de sacro Judaeorum cubito" appeared in Newton's Opuscula mathematica, philosophica et philologica, 1744.
"Pyramidographia", "A discourse", "Miscellaneous tracts and "A description" have individual title pages.
Two leaves signed h3, h4 and numbered 89-92 inserted between pp. 92 and 93; catchword on verso of h3 refers to an engraving present in the first edition of Pyramedographia, 1646, but absent in this collection. P. 540 (end of poemata) is followed by 6 unnumbered pages (prelims) and pp. 591 onwards (text of description of the seraglio).
Contents: v. 1. The life and writings of Mr. John Greaves -- Pyramidographia. 1736 -- A discourse of the Roman foot and denarius. 1736 -- v. 2. Miscellaneous tracts, letters, poems, &c. 1736 -- Reflections upon Mr Greaves's Pyramidographia -- A dissertation upon the sacred cubit of the Jews... translated from the Latin of Sir Isaac Newton, not yet published -- A description of the Grand Seignor's seraglio. 1737.
