This accrual comprises 7 boxes. Box 1 includes typed copies of articles from the 'Gentleman’s Magazine' c.1790, relating to the history of the Baptist church with notes and references, 2 folders of text and notes relating to Joseph Priestley, image of Joseph Priestley and notes, articles by Herbert Read for 'The Listener', published articles and letters by and about Herbert Read, typescript introduction to ‘English Prose Style’ by Herbert Read 1928, dissertation by Mary Catherine Park, University of Pennsylvania dated 1947 entitled ‘Joseph Priestley and the Problem of Pantisocracy’, food related newspaper cuttings from Yorkshire newspapers such as the 'Yorkshire Evening Post', notes from ‘The Russells of Birmingham in the French Revolution and America, 1791-1814’ by S. H. Jeyes dated 1911, notes from ‘The Public Life of Thomas Cooper 1781-1839’ by D. Wight Duff, 2 folders of articles and
newspaper cuttings about the Bloomsbury set, ‘Virginia Woolf’ by E. M. Forster, Rede lecture 1941, article on ‘William Pearson of Borderside’ by H. D. Rawnsley, notes and articles about state control, copyright, libel etcetera, ‘A Love Story’ by F. Magazine’ 1774 and 2 folders of articles and historical sources related to canals. Box 4 includes publications, pamphlets and articles on various subjects including libraries, visitor guides to places in the United Kingdom, architectural guides to cathedrals and abbeys, publications on archaeology, architecture, art, economics, history, poetry, religious history. Also includes a copy of ‘Selected Poems’ by T.S. Eliot, 1948 and a run of 'Pitman’s Economics Educator' (in 30 parts, complete except 2, 6, 7, 10). Box 5 comprises religious publications and periodicals including 'Transactions of the Congregational Historical Society', 'the Baptist Quarterly' and 'Transactions of the Unitarian Historical Society'. Also includes copies of the pamphlet ‘Flax as a Fibre Plant’ and pamphlets and articles from folders titled ‘Micro Methods’ and pamphlet titled ‘Micro-Records for The Historian’. Box 6 includes various maps, photocopies of maps, and hand-drawn copies of maps,
from Leeds and Yorkshire area, 18th-20th century, plan of proposed railways near Bradford, 1871, large copy of poster for Keighley and Worth Valley Railway 1980, architectural plans, copies of accounts for William Tetley and Sons Brewers, photocopies of manuscripts and multiple copies of a plan of lots for sale in Sheepscar and Mabgate, date unknown. Box 7 includes scrapbook of political press cuttings, William Gladstone and personalia.
