St Anna and St Joachim are seen embracing at the Golden Gate, after an angel had appeared to St Anna announcing she was to give birth to the Virgin Mary.

The miniature depicts St. Anne, enthroned, holding the Virgin Mary,with a crowned halo. The Virgin Mary in turn is holding the Christ Child, with a tripartite halo.
