Profile

Joseph Pighills was born near Haworth Moor, Yorkshire. He began to paint after taking early retirement from his work as an engineering pattern maker. He studied briefly at Keighley College of Art. Best known for his landscapes, he is also represented in Haigh's estate by a rich still life, and a nude study.
