Edition known in three states: (a) 32 lines on leaf 1r; (b) 33 lines on leaf 1r; (c) 33 lines on 1r and dated 1485 in the colophon.

A full page copper engraving of the triple crown of the Virgin as described on leaf 32v is found in some copies as an added leaf.

Printed with 34 long lines to a full page.

Leaf c3 is signed c1 and leaf e2 is signed e1.

Initial spaces with no guide-letters on leaves 1r and 10v.

This edition has 33 lines on leaf 1r.

Bindings

Nineteenth-century binding of half pale brown calf and marbled paper over pasteboard. The marbled paper features the comb pattern in red, orange, yellow, blue and black. Where it meets the marbled paper the leather is blind-tooled with a repeating pattern of stylised foliage. The spine has four raised bands with a gold-tooled single fillet to either side of each. Gold-tooled in the first panel is the name: H. Savonarola. Gold-tooled across the second and third panels are the words: Compendio di revelatione. Gold-tooled at the base of spine are the place and date: Firenze 1495. A single flower motif is blind-tooled in each of the first and fifth panels. The leaf edges have been cropped. Size: 191 x 135mm. Leaf size: 187 x 127mm.

Inscription in black ink manuscript at the foot of leaf a1r: Di Bernardino Romena, Milite di S. Stefano.

Small black and white armorial bookplate of Sir Edward Allen Brotherton on the front pastedown. The book was most likely acquired before 17 June 1929 when Brotherton was created Baron Brotherton of Wakefield.
