Comprises 1 autograph letter from Mark Lemon to Jabez Hogg dated 29 May 1857 (with transcript), 1 autographed stamped-addressed envelope from Mark Lemon to I.G. Lewis dated 28 October 1868, 4 undated autographs of Mark Lemon, 1 portrait photograph of Mark Lemon taken by Messrs. Mayall of London and Brighton, 1 printed portrait of Mark Lemon as Falstaff drawn by John Tenniel and extracted from the Illustrated London News for 17 October 1868, and 1 printed cartoon on pink paper by Linley Sambourne dated 23 February 1889 concerning Cork Tipped cigarettes. The bound volume includes a biography of Sambourne which is different from that contained in the Dictionary of National Biography.


The material was formerly bound into a volume containing also a transcript of the letter, which is now shelved in a separate author/alphabetical sequence following the main sequence of Miscellaneous Letters.
