Description

Comprises 11 autograph letters, namely, 4 from Herbert Ingram, 1 from H. Ingram, Herbert's eldest son, and 6 from Sir William Ingram, Herbert's second son (with transcripts), 1 printed portrait engraving of Herbert Ingram signed as from 'Smyth's', 1 printed memorial inscription for Herbert Ingram giving details of his death by drowning in a steamer accident on Lake Michigan on 8 September 1860, and a long press-cutting concerning the tragedy.


The material was formerly bound into a volume containing also transcripts of the letters, which is now shelved in a separate author/alphabetical sequence following the main sequence of Miscellaneous Letters.
