Description

Dr June Goodfield was a historian of science, author and filmmaker. She was granted a PhD in history and philosophy of Science at The University of Leeds in 1959 and later went on to author a series of books on the history of science, biomedicine and history.

She became best known in Britain and America for her books, films and documentaries on the international battle against disease, such as Cancer Under Siege (1975), An Imagined World (1981), A Chance to Live (1991) and the television series From the Face of the Earth, which won a British Association for the Advancement of Science Award (1985).

While at Rockerfeller University she founded International Health and Biomedicine, a non profit organisation whose objective was to enhance public understanding of science and its impact on global health.
