Description

Documents relating to Helen Sanders' Industrial Tribunal case on sex discrimination in 1980.

In 1979 Helen Sanders started a government training course in carpentry and joinery but was dismissed after three weeks. She took a case for sex discrimination against the Manpower Services Commission, which she lost. Helen later qualified elsewhere in carpentry and worked in the trade for 10 years before doing a degree in Building Surveying and working for Leeds City Council. She later became a Chartered Surveyor. A more detailed version of her history is in the collection.
