Biography or history
Unlimited Theatre was a Leeds-based company founded in 1997 by Louisa Ashley, Clare Duffy, Liz Margree, J Spooner, Chris Thorpe and Paul Warwick. Established as an artist-led collective, the company created and toured original performances, installations and participatory projects in theatres, festivals, public spaces in the UK and internationally until 2023.
The company’s work encompassed interdisciplinary performance, including projects engaging with scientific and philosophical themes. Alongside this they sustained a programme of work for children, young people and families. Unlimited collaborated with a wide range of artists, researchers and partner organisations and toured to countries including Germany, Zimbabwe, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Ukraine and the United States.
In 2023, Unlimited Theatre Company ceased producing new work and concentrated on artist development and sector support through initiatives such as the unAwards grant programme.
