Biography or history

War poet Alfred Victor Ratcliffe (1887 - 1916) was one of Lord Brotherton’s nephews. A Second-Lieutenant, he was killed in action at The Somme on 1st July 1916. At the time of his death, he was engaged to Dorothy Una Ratcliffe's sister, Pauline Ida Young (nee Clough).
