Description

The collection includes research material for books and articles written by Mason, including publications for the National Trust. This material includes papers and scrapbooks.

There is also a collection of sweet wrappers, primarily chocolate wrappers, that Mason collected from various countries in the world.

The archive includes microcassettes on making crumpets and some of Mason's presentation notes.

Biography or history

Laura Mason was a food historian and author born in Ilkley in 1957. She was particularly interested in traditional British foods and published many books, some for the National Trust. For many years, Laura was chair of the Leeds Symposium on Food History and Traditions. Laura died in 2021.
