Description
Peter Brears is a British food historian, curator, author, illustrator and consultant to organisations such as The National Trust, Historic Royal Palaces and English Heritage. He has consulted on the reconstruction of historic Kitchens of numerous important houses across Britain, restoring the kitchens to working exhibits. He has written, illustrated or contributed on 47 books on local history, food history and social history and won the Andre Simon award for his book ‘Cooking and Dining in Medieval England’. He was Director of York and Leeds City Museums and the leading authority on Jelly.

2.Research Files- these files contain research undertaken by Brears on various topics including Historic Houses, food items such as Chocolate and domestic life.

5.Professional papers- A small amount of papers collected by Brears during his time as Director of Leeds Museums.
