Publication date is speculative. Numerous editions produced after first edition in 1812 with 72 plates [Berlin Kat, 1387, 1812]. Bedford Collection copy A122 has 86 plates including the title page [no numbered plate 1] by AJ Giroud dated 1813, Normand [fils] and title page, plate 61 engraved by Montferrand. The address of Beunat's business in Paris is Rue St. Avoye, no. 63 on this copy; other later [?] editions have Rue Napoleon, no.11.
Joseph Beunat established plaster moulding factory at Sarrebourg, Alsace in 1805. By 1836 it had been taken over by J. Joseph Heiligenthal of Strasbourg.
