Description

19 stanzas of four lines each. Conjugate blank leaf.

A verse narrative of "Lord Milton's" assault on thimbleriggers [cheaters], with puns on "pair o' dice" [paradise], referencing John Milton, Paradise Lost.

A political poem celebrating the election of the Whigs Lord Morpeth and Henry Brougham as MPs for Yorkshire at the General Election in 1830. Viscount Milton (1786-1857) had been an influential Whig MP for Yorkshire since 1807 until 1830, when he retired.

Duke University Perkins Library holds another copy signed in ms.: CHRR; printed on paper with watermark date 1829.
