Description
A cylinder seal with a hole through it, described as 'green stone', and an impression which has been cracked into three pieces and later joined together. A separate pink impression is loose.
In listings it is described as
"Akkadian (c. 2300 B.C.) . The Sun god, with rays rising from the upper part of his body, emerges from between two mountains. In his left hand he holds a knife with a serrated edge, his right hand rests on one of the mountains and he raises one foot towards the other mountain. He is bearded and wears a horned head-dress and a long kilt indicated by vertical lines. This scene is framed by two gates, each held by a bearded and kilted attendant who looks back over his shoulder. The end of the scene is marked by a star-spade."
The date is of the seal, not the impressions. Described as probably of the period of Hammurabi.
