Description

A deep wooden frame with a brass carrying handle and wooden stand for display, containing 6 samples of coloured enamel bricks set into edged insets. A white plastic label states that at least one piece was brought from Babylon. Enamels are in blue, black and yellow. The lower central stone is carved.

An inscription reads:
"From NEBUCHADNEZZAR'S PALACE at BABYLON. A portion of a blue enamelled brick which formed part of Nebuchadnezzar's palace circa 600 B.C. (2500 years old) Bought from BABYLON by JAMES R. OGDEN, HARROGATE. November 1926."
