Biography or history
Women's Aid internet campaign project, launched on 6 March 2000 as a first-of-its-kind interactive website to enable women survivors of domestic violence to communicate their experiences safely and anonymously directly to MPs. The month-long project received almost 1000 contributions from women throughout the country and was pioneered by the all-party Parliamentary Group on Domestic Violence, Women's Aid and The Hansard Society. The launch on 6 March 2000 included key note speeches from Nicola Harwin and Margaret Moran MP. The project was the most direct means ever used to gather sensitive personal evidence needed to inform the All Party Parliamentary Group on Domestic Violence. Women's Aid presented Tessa Jowell MP, Minister for Women, with a report of the findings from the project on 21 June 2000.
