Biography or history
Women's Aid and Avon first partnered in late 2009. Women's Aid invited Avon's CRM Manager to its launch of the 'Cut' movie campaign starring Keira Knightley, which led to discussions of opportunities to work together and Women's Aid proposing domestic violence-related projects that Avon could help fund through proceeds from product sales. The relationship mainly comprised of two strands: a) Avon's commitment to donate 45% of the sales revenue from the 'Avon Empowerment' product range to supporting Women's Aid projects and b) developing and managing the Avon and Women's Aid 'Empowering Women' Awards, in partnership with Marie Claire. The inaugural Awards were held in 2010. Avon also provided a grant of £30,000 to fund the 'You and me, Mum' parenting programme, to support mothers who survived domestic abuse and their children (the majority of this activity took place in the Women's Aid financial year 2011/12).
