Biography or history

Women's Aid Millenium (2000) campaign, supported by Unison and launched in London by the Women's Aid National Office on 23 November 1999. A week of action ran beginning 22 November 1999 to also tie in with two other events: the International Day Against Violence Against Women and the European Women's Lobby campaign for 'Violence-free Cities'. The aims of the campaign were to raise awareness of the issue of domestic violence and its effects on women and children, to raise awareness of Women's Aid at a national and local level, to promote their services to women and to encourage the general public to take an active role in helping women experiencing domestic violence and working towards preventing violence against women and children into the Millenium through greater awareness.
