Handwritten letters and postcards from the composer Kenneth Leighton to Maurice de Sausmarez, including Christmas greetings, updates on work and family life in Edinburgh, discussions about Leighton's composition in memory of de Sausmarez's mother Jessie, an invoice from Novello & Co. Ltd. for Leighton Variations, travels to Italy, a programme for a recital at Bretton Hall for the first performance of Seven Variations for String Quartet commissioned by de Sausmarez, a handwritten letter from Dory Bradford about a performance of a symphony by Leighton, a copy of a typewritten letter from de Sausmarez to Leighton and Leighton noting his concern for de Sausmarez while hospitalised during his final illness.
