Description
Handwritten and typewritten letters and postcards from the poet and translator James Kirkup to Maurice de Sausmarez and handwritten and typewritten letters from the poet John Betjeman to James Kirkup about de Sausmarez's illustrations. Includes mention of de Sausmarez's illustrations for Kirkup's poem about Leeds, two handwritten poems by Kirkup and a typewritten copy of his poem 'A City in the North'. A handwritten postcard from Osaka, Japan, asks de Sausmarez for permission to reproduce his portrait of Kikup for the third volume of his autobiography, followed by a handwritten letter thanking him for the photographic reproduction and describing his life in Japan.
