Commonly called The Journal of design. Edited by Henry Cole (see references in his diaries). Extensively illustrated with wood-engravings; includes samples of fabric and wallpaper. No more published. Subtitle : With [etc.] fabric patterns inserted, and upwards of [etc.] engravings. With plans of the exhibition building for the Great Exhibition of 1851 (v.III and v.V). One of the first periodicals devoted to the applied and decorative arts; includes references to the schools of design and to the Great Exhibition of 1851, with many samples of the fabrics and wallpapers exhibited.
