Description

This collection of press cuttings was collated by Durrant's Press Cuttings Ltd. before being sent on to Women's Aid offices where they were mounted on index cards. Each card displays the article title, newspaper, location and date of the newspaper clipping, as well as associated themes.

The articles Durrant's was instructed to collect were those relating to 'Women's Aid' or 'Battered Wives' (as was the term used at the time). Women's Aid also organised the clippings further by ascribing their own themes, which include topics like fundraising, demonstrations, housing and refuge.

This information has all been documented in the attached index, which we recommend exploring, downloading and making the most of the search function to pull out key words, topics and specific dates.

When requesting to view this sub-series in our research centre you can then accompany your request with the number codes of articles you would like to examine.

System of arrangement

These press cuttings are organised thematically.
