Description

Le garde meuble was bi-monthly [every two months?] periodical designed and published by Désiré Guilmard in Paris, starting in 1839. Each bi-monthly edition was assigned a volume number or livraison and each individual plate numbered sequentially within the set. Each edition had 9 originally loose plates [lithographs] comprising: 3 of sieges [seating], 3 of meubles [furniture i.e. cabinets], and 3 of tentures [draperies] i.e. 54 plates annually. The plates were available to purchase in black & white or hand-coloured by category i.e. tentures only or including all categories.
