Description

This series contains most of the scripts and storyboards for each film project. They are organised by film and separated by scripts and storyboards.

Typically the scripts are either printed typescripts on timestamped, continuous feed printer paper for earlier projects, or standard typed pieces on A4 paper for later projects. Script folders may contain several iterations where text has been changed or modified, or annotations have been added by various Workshop members either by pen or pencil.

The storyboards are a mixture of hand drawn and photocopied compositions, some on A4 paper, some on A3, and some on storyboard paper. Aside from printed and photocopied versions, a variety of pencil, coloured pencil and black pen are used for the storyboard panels. There are 7 never made films included in the scripts and storyboards, including :

- "The Finishing Touch" (MS 2267/2/4/66)

- "Shadows in the Water" (MS 2267/2/4/23)

- "Not Waving" (MS 2267/2/4/25)

- "On The Line" (MS 2267/2/4/26)

- "Auguries of Innocence" (MS 2267/2/4/27)

- "Off Yer Trolley" (MS 2267/2/4/28)

- "Kosher Turkey" (MS 2267/2/4/29)

The storyboards provide a broader insight into more preliminary stages of the arrangement and sequencing of animations. Files that contain more than one draft highlight the way in which the Workshop's ideas or priorities for the project may have evolved over the course of building the narrative.

System of arrangement

The scripts and storyboards were largely housed together in the editing room of the LAW offices. However, some of them were in the animation artwork boxes and have been removed and added to this series.

The scripts and storyboards in the film files (MS 2267/2/2) have been left in that series, so there may be some duplicates across the collection.
