Description

The sale was on behalf of John Farquhar, to whom Beckford had sold the house in 1822. The frontispiece includes a view of the house surrounded by the title 'A catalogue of the costly and interesting effects of Fonthill Abbey' and the signature: H. Phillips.


With this are bound: The unique and splendid effects of Fonthill abbey. 2 pts. and The pictures and miniatures at Fonthill abbey. 1 pt. The three catalogues are paged continuously ([4], 391 p.) but the parts are rearranged in binding to follow the chronological order of sales.
