Description
The 27 leaves of plates, dated between 1825 and 1827, were published by R. Ackermann, 96 Strand [from Repository of Arts].
Date of publication suggested by the Patent Office Library.
Also sometimes ascribed to Augustus Charles Pugin's son A.W.N. Pugin. This book is not, however, in the bibliography of A.W.N. Pugin in Phoebe Stanton's Pugin (New York, 1972). Michael Trappes-Lomax, in Pugin, a mediaeval Victorian (London, 1932), ascribes it to A.C. Pugin, although a single plate ("A Gothic sofa", Nov. 1826) is credited to A.W.N. Pugin, see record of Yale Centre for British Art. The V&A suggests that the group of medieval illuminated manuscripts which are lying on the table in might possibly be a contribution from the young A.W.N. Pugin, then thirteen years old.
