Description
[Side 1] Polly tells series of anecdotes: recalls woman's 'boa' [= fur stole] blowing off in wind and being mistaken for snake and buried in churchyard, remembers sexton digging grave early one morning and frightening passer-by when he 'axed' [= asked] him for time, describes how local carter whose watch had stopped went over to churchyard early one morning in white nightshirt to check church clock and frightened group of men returning from late shift as he leapt down from wall. [Side 2] Polly tells series of anecdotes: remembers woman who bought new umbrella for picnic and took it back because nobody could open it, describes prank played by passer-by who spotted mug of rainwater outside house so called for help and handed tub to man leaning out of upstairs window then ran off leaving man stranded, recalls local greengrocer once played dominoes in local pub and went to bed forgetting he'd left horse and cart standing outside.
