Description
[Side 1] Billy tells anecdote about local character playing prank on landlord of Bush Inn by pretending to be landlord when travelling clock repairer called, memories of contented childhood incl. making own amusement, recalls sitting in 'bassinet' [= children's pram] watching other children play. [Side 2] Billy recalls butcher coming to slaughter pig on bench, describes how to scald pig and hang carcsas on 'gamble' [= bent piece of wood/iron used to hang/stretch pig's carcass], describes cuts of meat and by-prodcuts incl. 'fry' [= pig's entrails], 'leaf' [= fat round pig's kidney], lard, 'scutchings' [= scraps left after rendering lard] and 'chitterlings' [= pig's intestines], recalls custom of sharing surplus pork with neighbours. Note: Recording date 1958-10 noted by ear, 1960-05-03 written on lacquer disc label.
