Description
[Side 1] Haigh and Herbert discuss recipe for 'parkin' [= type of gingerbread cake], stir ingredients into 'flod' [= mixture of oatmeal and treacle] and bake in oven, different temperatures produce burnt or doughy versions according to preference, discuss alternative recipes incl. 'moggin' [= parkin made with yeast] and 'crackling' [small cake made with left-over flod and extra meal], brief conversation about Haigh's father having to 'piecen' [= rejoin broken threads in spinning mill] from age of six and eating only porridge made from meal, water and treacle despite long hours. [Side 2] George and Mr Hinchliffe in conversation about dog trials, explain system of point deduction and importance of recognising whistles, brief discussion of pig-keeping and cost of corn.
